Can you imagine how prosperous we would be if Northern Gateway and Energy East had been approved? Instead we endured a decade of incompetence rarely experienced by any other democracy. Trudeau has much to answer for.
It's true, Peter. Well said. I mean look at how quickly many of America's fortunes have turned around. In a matter of hours, needing only pen strokes, Canada could be back to pre-2015 competency.
Trudeau is worse than a failure - he devastated the economy and our democracy. He shut down Parliament to keep the truth about the Green Slush Fund corruption from Canadians. He shut down any real investigation into Chinese interference in our elections just like he has attempted to be totally unaccountable to Parliament and the Canadian people. He lost the popular vote to the Conservatives in the last two elections. Trudeau - a total lying destructive failure of epic proportions. Just like his father.
I have to add that my biggest disappointment with Ford is his silence and hence complicity on the pro-Hamas racist terrorists raging through our streets and universities committing vile hate crimes and violence. One comment I read was the RCMP was willing to walk 500 meters through protesters calling for the final solution and the murder of Jews to arrest one person with a sign saying”deport them all”. Ford has done nothing to combat this vile criminal hatred.
He's endlessly disappointing on this file, yes. Could have played his own brand of bully ball on the post-national hell pit, instead he reserves that for tariff negotiations he isn't even a part of.
The Khalistani menace in Brampton, and the soaring amount of migrant crime and gangland degradation in the GTA, have been met with a similar shrug.
Unless I am an idiot (plausibly) where is the money going to be borrowed from to fund all this trade war relief? If we cut off oil the economic effects are going to be drastic. A collapse of the dollar, surge in unemployment and a likely depression. it's not like we are already have a yearly deficit of 67 BILLION. 167 or 267 billion, doesn't matter if you CANNOT borrow on the markets. A surge in interest rates to attact bondholders? Hahaha. There goes the housing bubble.
Not to mention bad orange wants 5% of GDP for NATO. I mean where on earth is that going to come from?
We are SO screwed. Sorry, we did it to ourselves. Elect a clown(s), get a circus.
Gee, I'm a B.A. in Poli Sci guy, who has pumped gas, cut lawns, banged his head on the desk in call centres, and worked for free, and even I know we don't have the money to pay for this.
It's going to be a tough few months/year, to be certain. We are all entitled to feeling burnt out and exasperated, but will be important to remember these are human choices that can be undone.
Spot on Alex. As for Ontario, Ford is the best of a bad lot, unfortunately. There is no truly conservative party in Ontario that has a hope in hell of forming a government.
Appreciate that, Peter. It remains tremendously disappointing that the Ontario PCs appear committed to centre-left governance to box out the provincial Liberals, while remaining cozy with the feds. It's an effective strategy, but not remotely "Conservative."
One of the reasons I felt shoved out of Ontario: that sheer absence of leadership.
Yes I am very disappointed in Ford. Getting into that EV madness with Trudeau. I thought he possibly too right of Center to beat Wynne. Unfortunately he could be considered a slightly left-of-center Liberal. But there is no alternative to Ford - the alternatives are clones of Trudeau and Singh.
Yep. "We're the least destructive" is no option worth celebrating when you're competing against a party on the margins of zero party status, and a party for the Hamas teachers' lounge. Ontario's families, businesses, and communities deserve better.
New Blue is certainly the best "conservative protest vote," if one is so inclined. The Ontario Party doesn't even attempt to maintain the image of a functioning apparatus.
Thanks, Alex. That's what I thought. I'm not generally into 'protest voting', so I'll have to check them out further.
I hate wasting my vote when no one will notice why.
As I said, Ford is the best of the current leaders, the rest of the PC government is doing a passing job and Ford won't be around forever. I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last election. He's no Bill Davis or John Robarts that's for sure.
Honestly, I don’t hold out much hope for Ontario. To see the Liberals bouncing back in the poles federally and Doug Ford is the closest thing to a conservative you can find? The people of Ontario just don’t seem grounded in reality.
Thanks for this Tom. Pardon the two-day delay on getting back to you. It's such a shame to see that sentiment become part of the furniture in Ontario. In many ways, their wholly unnecessary early election call was about getting ahead of wearing some of that broader Liberal bounce-back in the polls.
But they would have walked to a majority a year-and-a-half from now all the same. The province and the feds are too entirely different Conservative animals at this point, and one of them simply isn't.
It has been fascinating to watch the lefty psyche become a trumpster fire over the past week.
With head-spinning speed, we've witnessed the introduction of common sense policies south of the border. They make any normal person wish for the same to occur up here.
Politics attracts a certain kind of animal. Some players are better than others at hiding their ambitions. It is frustrating, albeit predictable, to see most of Canada's mainstream media respond negatively to comments made by the Premiers of AB and SK. Am hoping that sanity prevails over the next week and that "Team Canada" presents convincing evidence that solutions to the problems outlined by DJT are being introduced.
Thanks for this Ted. I very much have my concerns about what our beloved "Team Canada" has in store. That track record, even that communications strategy -- yuck.
"Love your country, hate this government," is where I tend to land. How dare they attempt to equate ten years of self-sabotage and self-loathing as some nationalistic consensus.
Great piece Alex - hard to stomach, but I think we all know deep down the truth. Good for Moe, seems like he’s coming to his senses and hopefully that provides some sense of allegiance or support for Smith. Bastards the rest of them… Fascinating data or polls from the Young Uns, wonder where that will ultimately lead in time? I think I have found myself a new anthem! Your link to the Brian Martin song. I signed up for the liberal emails just to see what they’re up to long ago and I also get that “sign the card for Just-Tin” prompt constantly - vomit and begging for money and telling me how wonderfully well they’re doing…. Thanks for the read

Doug Ford is our Bojo the clown. Utterly fake WEF globalist "conservative"
it's True Blue for me.
I like the Boris comp. It's there, for sure.
Has all the comms and everyman appeal to be the guy you wish he claimed himself to be. The evidence speaks to the contrary.
Hey UnvaxxedCanadian, is this to whom you are referring?

Cheers.

Appreciate that, Sam. It's these tempestuous moments where it must be nice to live on one of the prettiest islands known to man! :)
Thanks for reading. Do sign that card, and maybe get a little creative with the response.
Anyone else getting sick to their stomach with the "Sign this Card for Justin" emails?
And I didn't even sign up myself for the Liberal party membership, someone else did. lol
I reply with the comment that “I just wiped my arse” and the card will arrive soon. Unfortunately these replies don’t even go back to the source.
