“After all, that “reverse Midas touch” helped advise this country for the last few years of Trudeau ruination, setting the stage for an enfeebled country to be shoved, repeatedly, into lockers and swirlied for its lunch money by the 47th President of the United States.”
Thank you Lucy! The horror stories from his other jobs are remarkable.
(Also, the Ottawa social circle chatter isn't kind either, for other reasons. But I don't feel like being visited by a flower van in the middle of the night.)
Most frustrating, but not at all surprising, that the Canadian legacy media sees Manchurian Mark as a suitable saviour. Pierre needs to shine in debates with this candidate, although it might be a challenge to get the visiting banker to participate in more than one.
As always, I should have turned to you first for puns and nicknames.
If they can force him in front of camera, and give Pierre a microphone, it's absolutely over. Carney's handlers know this, so they're going to buck those debate asks for weeks, and try to rig the rules.
Fleet Street has had its say and installed Dion, no no, Ignatieff, no no, Carney into the PM slot.
It's time for Main Street to pass judgement on this Clown Show.
The election will come and Canadians damn well better show up and vote; because this time our Country's very existense does depend on it.
If Carney and the Lieberals win, Trump will get his wish of a 51st state and doom the U.S. with another California and Democratic Party rule for the next century.
If our commentariat and 1/3 of the country are committed to making Trump's tariffs more important than our 30 other dire issues (be that genuinely, or as an excuse), part of the gig is going to be communicating emphatically to the public that Carney is actually the guy he wants to shove around, who's doing half of his job for him by chasing jobs and investment out of Canada. Whatever shady European deal he strikes in the next few weeks, that they'll try to pass off as a victory, will only continue that brain drain until he's out of the way.
Lost-decade-era voter turnouts were 68, 67, and 62 percent of the electorate. If we get Main Street back to showing out at 68 percent, it's over. With the stakes at hand, and young men being as plugged in and pissed off as they are at present, I wouldn't be shocked if we crack 70.
I certainly hope you're correct about cracking 70% Alex 'cause we're gonna need it.
Poilievre, and the CPC, had better get any possible brain-farts under control right from the get-go. They can't afford to screw the pooch on this election.
I have two voice messages from EKOS on my cell phone. I occasionally get called by them and another pollster. You can't call back and do the survey you have to answer or you don't get polled. And then it occurred to me, their results are probably completely detached from working Canadians. They've been polling the retired. Even diehard Liberals couldn't stand Trudeau, but they've warmed to Carney. And who are the die-hardest Liberals? Well, you know.
I can see how a pollster could unintentionally or, maybe intentionally, suddenly get a reversal in numbers. Because as far as I can see, people I deal with on the daily are barely aware of Carney, but they still think the Liberals are a mess.
Pierre needs to realize that being liberal lite is going to get the conservatives lit on fire AGAIN. Canadians are thirsty for common sense no woke BS politics.
THIS!!!! 🎯

It will be a battle Alex but I will keep the faith if you do
It's a deal, Carol.
Keep up the excellent work you are doing.
Always enjoy reading the essay's you put forward.
That's very kind of you, Colin. Lucky to have you here, and thankful for the support.
Mark Carney is Justin Trudeau with half of Erin O’Toole’s charisma.
Oof.
Woah are we sure it's even half? Anyone who uses "catalyze investment" when trying to relate to the proles...

Appreciate the comment, James.
I stand four square behind this reply.
