"vote like a country depends on it, because, sometimes, it actually does"

The outlook for Canada absolutely will be dependent on the next election. You've nailed that Alexander!

Well said.

Hard to come to any other honest conclusion, as we backslide towards Third World Status. Thanks, Peter!

Excellent work Alex. While many serious frustrations are resulting from actions taken by the current crew commanding our ship of state, a significant one is the time required before the next federal election. One can only imagine what inane policies or laws may be approved before this "ship of fools" hits the rocks.

Going to be quite the challenging interregnum. Will need to keep our senses of humour firmly intact to deal with some of the nonsense.

Much obliged, Ted. The trip to Dayton looked fantastic.

That whirlwind visit to Wright-Patterson was brilliant. Four like-minded gents in a very special place. It was sensory overload of a most pleasant kind.

I love your articles thank you so much for taking the time to write them.

Have you heard of 'the British Home Children' ? My grandfather was one who was sent to Canada from an orphanage (Barnardo Home for Boys) in England. Over 100,000 children were sent to Canada between 1867 -1938 to work on farms and become domestics. While England, New Zealand, Australia have apologized, Canada never has. The 'recorded' atrocities some of these children suffered is documented and there actually is a mass grave in Ontario where many of the children came to then be farmed out to work. I wish someone would write about this.

Sorry I'm 71 now and to think of him going thru this is hard. My own son was 11 when I did my family research and found this information. It broke my heart. What is happening to Canada breaks my heart !

My Grandfather also was also one of the 'British Home Children'. I was able to trace him back to England but was unable to find exactly from whence he came. It was sometime at the beginning of the 1900s.

I have the steamship record around here somewhere, but, I believe it was Montreal where he landed; eventually making his way to SW Ontario.

I for some reason haven't heard of this story. I'll look into it.

Great column. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Learning the word "bafflegab" alone is worth the paid subscription.

In place of better perks, I can at least offer my services as a thesaurus.

Appreciate you, kind sir. Congrats on your Conservative nominee. He's as good a dude as you'd expect. Had the pleasure of hanging with him once or twice. Happy to make the intro if you're interested in volunteering.
