I'm with the kids! I may be pushing 70 but I can say that I've never voted for a liberal in my life and don't intend to now. Here's one "boomer" (and I know that there are many more of us) that can be taken off the "Liberal boomer" list. I do hate being pigeon holed. ;-)

Thank you, Mitch! I feel lousy about it coming across as a pejorative, but the early data are what they are. I hate pigeon holing right back, and certainly don't wish to sound like I'm doing so. I have a very specific mushy, Covid-supporting Liberal in mind, who hasn't had to live with the policies they voted for.

No problem! I get where you are coming from for sure. I too know some of those of whom you speak. ;-)

I'm sorry, Alex. I've been reading about this so-called Boomerpocalypse for a while now. Various pollsters tout its validity, and several articles have been written about it.

However, I just don't see it on the ground here in midwestern Ontario. On the contrary, there is widespread disdain for the Liberals across all demographic groups.

The Liberals will always have a core of 'CBCers' who refuse to see the forest for the trees. But, I think the die is cast; the people are fed up with the B.S.

The NDP is going to be crushed into oblivion and the Lieberals are sucking up some of that. But, I also believe that the Conservatives are going to pick up some of those votes as well.

With all of the Liberal local candidates riding ejections lately, it wouldn't surprise me that some Liberal voters are disgusted with their party.

The Liberal Party of Canada is its own worst enemy. Carney's actions and omissions are exacerbating the Liberal woes.

Well said, Peter! And point well taken.

It's an incredibly short election for a reason, they know they are their own worst enemy, and they are certainly hoping to keep the NDP swing voter and the low-information crowd fixated on Trump, Trump, Trump. As of press time today, that's kind of working, and the man south of the border is offering no help in that regard.

That said, yes, of course, that widespread disdain is still there, people are fed up, and there's a disconnect between media reports and then what we see and hear in our communities. That's a good thing, and certainly what was glimpsed during the 'Kamala Bump.'

Whether the average Canadian voter turns out for that, and cares enough about existential threats to our future generations, not lighting the powder keg for Western separation, and is aware enough to not give many young professionals and those trying to own a home and start a family a shove to greener pastures, that's the million-dollar question.

I'm an eternal optimist here. The Liberals have still lucked into a remarkably easy messaging window.

Good column Alex! This boomer has never voted liberal and personally I don’t know of any boomers that vote liberal. That might be an Alberta thing though. Keep encouraging young people to get out and vote! The liberals turned their backs on younger generations for nine years and have continuously screwed with the western provinces. If the liberals are rewarded with another four years this country could look a lot different in 2029.

I hear that, Glenn! And thanks. Yes, that may be an Alberta thing! :)

Doing my best to help in my own little way. Together, we're certainly amassing major wins on policy announcements, social licenses, and matters of "not ruining your country on purpose," but we know what these promises are worth, and for how long they will last...

The question, Glenn, I fear, will be if we have a country at all in 2029 if the Lieberals are re-elected.

I’m not sure why you fixed the typo from 💩 to shift. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 things are literal 💩 at the moment.

How is the momentum going? I’ve completely disconnected from ALL Cdn propaganda to save my sanity. I have my blue lawn sign up

Hah, yeah my bad. Caught that one late. Can you tell these are long days and I'm underslept?

Momentum swings by the hour lol. Decent and fairly reliable internals are tipping Liberal. 7-14 days to really make an impression and to show the missing middle that if they turn up this is a vastly different ballgame. Ground game will be huge.

Great take Alex. The massive headwind for the conservatives is the MSM that’s fighting this election like their jobs depend on it, and they do.

Appreciate it, Tom! It's a massive headwind indeed. Luckily we get to be our own broadcasters this time, and the third-party, independent space has grown to what it is. Making up for it best we can.

Not to mention the pollsters, consultants and other governmental hangers-on who will be turfed under a Poilievre government.
